Jumbo Beverages announces layoffs at Grapevine distribution center

Grapevine, Texas – Jumbo Beverages, a subsidiary of Dallas-based Glazer’s Beer and Beverages, has announced a significant workforce reduction at its distribution center in Grapevine, Texas.

The company’s decision to permanently lay off all employees at this facility will affect 109 workers, with the process expected to be completed by April 30. This information was disclosed in a recent filing with the Texas Workforce Commission. However, the filing did not elaborate on the reasons behind the layoffs or the closure of the facility.

Jumbo Beverages was established in 2021 following the acquisition and merger of KC Distributing of Aubrey, Texas, and Kimball Distributing of Grand Prairie, Texas, by Glazer’s Beer and Beverages. This merger led to the creation of the new entity, Jumbo Beverages, as reported by the Fort Worth Business Press.

The company has been a significant player in the beverage industry, servicing over 20 suppliers and 4,000 customers within a 22-county area in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Jumbo Beverages’ portfolio boasted over 30 brands, including popular names like Shiner Beer, Fiji Water, and Nesquik.

Founded in 2016, Glazer’s Beer and Beverages has grown to employ approximately 1,500 individuals across 13 locations in various states, including Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Nebraska, and Texas.

The announcement of these layoffs marks a challenging phase for Jumbo Beverages and its parent company. It also reflects the dynamic and often unpredictable nature of the beverage distribution industry. The decision has undoubtedly impacted the lives of the employees and the Grapevine community. Officials from Jumbo Beverages and Glazer’s Beer and Beverages have not yet commented on the layoffs.
