FWISD Trustee Quinton Phillips Re-Elected To State Board

He will serve his first three-year term

Fort Worth ISD Trustee Quinton “Q” Phillips will serve a three-year term on the Texas Association of School Boards State Association Board. Members of the nonprofit board elected Phillips at the delegate assembly in September. The month prior, delegates elected him for an interim term.

“I am humbled and honored that my peers chose me to serve another three years on the TASB board,” Phillips said. “My hope is that we can all come together to figure out the best ways to serve school boards across the state. We aim to ensure a high-quality education for all children across Texas.”

The Texas Association of School Boards is a nonprofit that serves school board members across the state with resources and trainings. Phillips will represent Region 11, Position B, which includes North Central Texas districts.

As a board member, Phillips will help the association provide support to trustees in Texas, determine Legislative priorities, shape policies, and more.

Phillips joined the FWISD school board in 2019. He represents the eastside of the city — including the historic Stop Six neighborhood — where he was born and raised.

His service includes the Steering Committee and Advisory Council for the Paul Laurence Dunbar Young Men’s Leadership Academy, and he is a member of the Citizens’ Oversight Committee. His FWISD board committees include the After School Coordinating Board, Finance, Policy, and Racial Equity. He chairs the Finance and Racial Equity committees.

In addition to his service on the school board, Phillips is a founding member of the nonprofit Community Frontline and a professor in the criminal justice department at Texas Christian University.

As a trustee and community member, Phillips is dedicated to facilitating cultural diversity in leadership and success for all students in the district.
