Western Hills High School Senior Wins Art Contest

Her mural will be displayed on a building in a new neighborhood development

When residents of Trumont’s latest apartment development admire the mural near their club house, it will be a FWISD student’s art they praise.

Western Hill High School senior Idaly Ramirez clinched first place in Trumont’s art contest, besting more than 90 entries. Trumont, a development company, is orchestrating a new community project in Fort Worth.

Trumont asked FWISD students to submit art to be featured on an 800-square-foot wall in the commons/pool area of the apartment complex.

Idaly also received a plaque and cash prize. Her mural features a longhorn with bluebonnets.

“Along with having high expectations for content delivery, authentic student engagement, and endless opportunities for students to grow and present their work, the charge to all visual educators is to create art and make art known. I am looking forward to all the great things that will come from the amazing artists at Western Hills,” Visual Arts Coordinator Ebony Nicole Johnson said.
