Fort Worth police investigate fatal hit-and-run near DFW Airport
Fort Worth, Texas – Fort Worth police are urgently seeking the public’s assistance to locate the driver responsible for the death of a stranded motorist in a hit-and-run incident near DFW Airport. The accident occurred on one of the busiest travel days of the year, bringing an added layer of urgency to the investigation.
The victim, 57-year-old Susan Simmons, was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Details about whether Simmons was at the airport or merely passing through on International Parkway at the time of the incident remain unclear.
According to the police, Simmons’ vehicle had stalled on International Parkway near Highway 183 around 8 p.m. She and another person, waiting for a tow truck, were struck by a vehicle. Tragically, Simmons did not survive the impact, while the second victim sustained injuries but is expected to survive. The vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, however, did not stop and immediately fled the scene.
Fort Worth Police Officer Daniel Segura emphasized the seriousness of fleeing an accident scene. “The moment you don’t stop and flee the scene then that becomes a criminal offense,” Segura stated. He urged drivers involved in accidents to remain at the scene, assist with investigations, and not leave, understanding that accidents can happen.
As of now, the police have not been able to provide a description of the suspect’s vehicle. They are actively working to gather information and identify the driver responsible for this tragic incident. Fort Worth police are appealing to anyone with information about the hit-and-run to come forward and contact them, as any small detail could be crucial in solving this case.
