Drivers in Fort Worth advised of University Drive closure between Lancaster Avenue and Rosedale Street

Fort Worth, Texas – A temporary road closure is set to impact traffic flow in Fort Worth later this month, as officials prepare for work along a busy stretch of University Drive.

City officials announced that University Drive will be closed in both directions beginning Tuesday, March 24, at 12:01 a.m. through Thursday, March 26, at 4 a.m. The closure will affect the section of the roadway between Lancaster Avenue and Rosedale Street, an area frequently used by daily commuters.

Drivers Advised to Plan Ahead for Delays

With the closure in place for nearly two full days, drivers who normally rely on this route are being advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel. Officials noted that traffic disruptions are expected, especially during peak hours.

To help manage the situation, Fort Worth Police Department officers will be stationed in the area to assist with traffic flow and ensure safety. In addition, directional signs will be placed along detour routes to guide motorists through alternate paths.

Drivers are encouraged to remain alert, follow posted signs, and be prepared for changes in traffic patterns while the closure is in effect.

Changes to Botanic Garden Access

The road closure will also affect access to one of the city’s popular destinations, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

During March 24 and March 25, the main entrance on University Drive will be temporarily closed. However, the garden will remain open to visitors during its normal operating hours.

Guests planning to visit will need to use an alternate entrance. During this time, all visitors will enter and exit through the Trail Drive gate, which can be accessed from Montgomery Street.

City officials are encouraging visitors to plan accordingly and follow posted directions to ensure a smooth visit despite the temporary changes.

While the closure may cause short-term inconvenience, the presence of officers and clear detour signage is expected to help minimize confusion and maintain steady traffic flow throughout the affected area.
