Global mining technology company announces downtown Fort Worth headquarters expansion with $3.4 million investment
Fort Worth, Texas – A major global company is deepening its footprint in downtown Fort Worth, signaling confidence in the city’s economic future while reinforcing its commitment to employees and long-term growth.
Weir, a global mining technology business, announced plans to expand the premises of its Minerals Division headquarters at 777 Main Street. The project will retain 67 jobs and includes a $3.4 million investment aimed at improving the workplace environment, supporting future workforce growth, and enhancing the company’s ability to host international executives and clients.
Construction on the expansion is expected to begin in the second half of this year.
Investment in Downtown Growth
The expansion will add square footage to the existing headquarters space inside one of Fort Worth’s most recognizable downtown office towers, originally built in 1982. The upgrades are designed to improve employee experience while preparing the company for potential growth in staffing and operations.
Corporate travel tied to the headquarters is also expected to benefit the local hospitality sector. Officials estimate the project will generate approximately 260 hotel nights per year, bringing additional business to downtown hotels and surrounding restaurants.
“We are pleased to expand the location of our Minerals Division headquarters in the heart of downtown Fort Worth,” said Phil Carey, vice president of finance for Weir’s Minerals Division. “Fort Worth has proven to be a dynamic and welcoming home for our business and our people. This investment reflects our confidence in the city, our commitment to our employees and our excitement about continuing to grow alongside the community.”
Strategic Economic Impact
City leaders say the expansion represents a strategic economic development success at a time when office real estate markets remain uncertain nationwide.
“Our partnership with Weir highlights Fort Worth’s proactive and strategic approach to economic development,” said Mayor Mattie Parker. “This agreement will retain quality jobs and create further investment in our city — specifically downtown — for years to come, and I’m grateful to the teams at the City of Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership for their leadership in moving this forward.”
Business leaders echoed the positive outlook, noting the ripple effects of corporate investment in the urban core.
“The expansion of Weir’s downtown divisional headquarters is the latest sign that the Fort Worth business community continues to thrive,” said Robert Allen, president and CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership. “This announcement not only keeps jobs in the downtown area — it also has positive economic impact on nearby hotels and restaurants. It’s further proof that when it comes to business expansion and recruitment, Fort Worth has a culture that gets it done.”
A Global Leader in Mining Technology
Weir is a global leader in mining technology, delivering solutions designed to help mining companies operate more efficiently and sustainably. The company focuses on reducing energy use, conserving water, minimizing waste, and improving productivity in mining operations around the world.
The headquarters expansion underscores Fort Worth’s role as a hub for global business operations and highlights the continued strength of its downtown economy. City officials say investments like this not only retain jobs but also reinforce confidence in the city’s future as a center for innovation, commerce, and international collaboration.
