Fort Worth, Texas – A celebratory night took an unexpected turn for a Fort Worth man who was shot in the leg while ringing in the New Year with his family.
As the clock neared midnight, Federico Perez was enjoying the New Year’s Eve festivities with his family in their front yard. The celebration, however, was abruptly interrupted when Perez was struck by a stray bullet. It is believed that the bullet was fired into the air by someone else participating in New Year celebrations nearby.
The incident required immediate medical attention, and Perez was swiftly taken to the hospital. Fortunately, after receiving treatment, he was released.
This incident was not isolated in the area. The Fort Worth Police reported receiving over 55 calls about gunfire in the neighborhood from Sunday evening to early Monday morning, indicating widespread celebratory gunfire.
