Early morning fire breaks out at abandoned chemical facility in Fort Worth

Fort Worth, Texas – Early this morning, Fort Worth fire crews responded to a significant fire at an abandoned chemical plant located near I-35 and Long Avenue on the north side of the city. The incident occurred at the old Southwestern Petroleum Corporation plant, at the corner of Long and Deen.

The fire department was alerted a little before 9 a.m. and immediately discovered the fire upon arrival. Due to the intensity of the blaze, a second alarm was called, prompting additional firefighters to join the effort to extinguish the flames.

As the firefighting teams continue their work to control the fire, the primary concern shifts towards investigating the cause of the fire once it is safely extinguished. Given the plant’s abandoned status, initial reports suggest there are no injuries. However, a comprehensive search of the premises is planned to ensure everyone’s safety and confirm that no one was inside the building when the fire started.
