Fort Worth, Texas – A concerning incident unfolded near Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth on Wednesday afternoon, involving a shooting during a student altercation.

Officials reported that shots were fired following a fight involving students near the high school, located at 5701 Shelton St. The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. According to police, an unidentified individual fired a gun near the school premises and then escaped to a nearby apartment complex.

In response to the incident, Eastern Hills High School’s principal, Lewis Washington, addressed parents in a letter. He explained that the school had been placed under a secure safety status due to an “altercation involving students” off-campus. During this period, no one was permitted to enter or leave the campus.

While the letter did not explicitly mention the shooting, Washington described the event as “isolated” and reassured that the safety of students and staff is the school’s utmost priority. He urged parents to encourage their children to speak with a teacher or campus administrator if they face any misunderstandings with peers, emphasizing the importance of open communication in maintaining a safe school environment.
